“Either way, CHRIST’S LOVE CONTROLS us. Since we believe that Christ died for all, we also believe that WE HAVE ALL DIED TO OUR OLD LIFE. He died for everyone so that THOSE WHO RECEIVE HIS NEW LIFE WILL NO LONGER LIVE FOR THEMSELVES. INSTEAD, THEY WILL LIVE FOR CHRIST, WHO DIED AND WAS RAISED FOR THEM.”2Cor.5:14-15.
As we rejoice and praise God especially in this season of commemorating Christ’s sacrificial death on our behalf and glorious resurrection triumphing over sin, Satan, death and hell out of His great love -agape (selfless and unconditional love, dearly loving us), may we in response LOVE HIM also with this Agape love (selfless, unconditional love). This means loving Him dearly from our hearts and ready to joyfully do every commandment or word of God no matter what it might cost us, even our lives!
This Agape love controls us by restraining us from doing anything that Jesus the Lord would not have done, and also pushes us to always doing what Jesus would do!
As we have received Jesus as Lord and Saviour, the Holy Spirit shed/poured out this Agape love upon our hearts because now our spirit is one with Christ’s Spirit dwelling inside of us (Rom 5:5; 1Cor.6:17). So, we can love sacrificially like Jesus by the help of the Holy Spirit as we continually yield ourselves to Him and God’s word, glory to God!
May we count ourselves dead to sin and all works of the flesh from our old lives, and live for Christ Jesus who died paying completely for our old life and was raised from the dead victoriously, glory to God! Rom.6:11-12
May Christ’s resurrection power by the Holy Spirit also raise and quicken us to live out this new life of all-round victories over sin, the flesh, Satan and his cohorts…, and to proclaim the good news of salvation and victory in Christ Jesus to others, amen!
