“For the Lord Himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words.” 1Thes. 4:16-18
A very inspiring and really comforting scripture concerning the ultimate goal of a true disciple/follower of the Lord Jesus Christ- being with Him forever physically wherever He is and in our new and glorified and incorruptible body (see also 1Cor.15:51-54).
For me, this is one of the most important Bible passages as through it the Lord opened my eyes and gave me answer to the question I had as a teenager-what is the sense of life? And through this I surrendered my life to the Lord Jesus as Lord and Saviour while in high school back in Nigeria several years ago, glory to Jesus! [Till today, I remember this great encounter with the Lord, thank You so much Lord Jesus!]
So the sense of life I understood is living in relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ in this life on earth as the Lord and Saviour by the power and leadership of the Holy Spirit through whom we are born into God’s family (John 1:11-13) and in whom we are sealed as God’s own (Eph.1:13); doing everything according to God’s word, and then ultimately being with the Lord eternally forever when Jesus comes in glory!
From what we can see, and the things happening in the world today, this time of the blessed and ultimate hope is really very near! Hence, the Lord is coming really very soon! Do you have the Lord Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour and are living in obedience to Him and His word everyday? Then rejoice and be comforted and continue steadfastly in Him no matter the challenges around you!
Surely a glorious and awesome hope awaits you!
But if you have not yet given your heart to Jesus as Lord and Saviour or you are living a double-standard or compromising life, please repent and put things right between you and the Lord Jesus who so loved you and gave Himself to redeem you from sin, death and hell, and assure you a place at His bosom as His holy bride, John 3:16-21; 14:1-3; Rev. 19:6-9.
Choose the Lord Jesus today and everyday, and continually stay in Him and His word by the Holy Spirit’s leading, and this ultimate goal of being with Him forever will be yours, amen.
