“For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead: And that He died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto Him which died for them, and rose again.” 2Cor.5:14,15
“I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless, I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave Himself for me.”Gal.2:20
“What? Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore, glorify God in your body, and in your spiS rit, which are God’s.” 1Cor.6:19-20
Indeed, very important scriptures to take to heart and live on daily as we respond to such an unequalled love the Lord Jesus showed us and all mankind by dying sacrificially for us! He died in our place to pay for our sins and redeem us back to God!
- Our first response should be love to Him, and this love constrains/restrains us from doing wrong or sinning or doing any of the things or works of the flesh for which Christ died, and at the same time this love for God pushes and quickens us do good in obedience to every word of God! John 14:23. We live no more to please ourselves but to please the Lord Jesus!
- See ourselves to be dead with Christ, dying to self, ego, I, reputation; and living out the life Jesus lived while on earth- life of faith in pursuing and fulfilling God’s purpose and plan no matter what it would cost, even our lives! This is what Jesus did! Like, at the garden of Gethsemane when He faced the last battle whether or not to go to the cross. He prayed to the Father: “Father, if it is Your will, take this cup away from Me; nevertheless not My will but Yours be done.”-Luke 22:41.And He went on to the cruel cross! But then He also foresaw the glory that would follow, including you and me and millions and billions of souls becoming part of God’s great kingdom and family, glory to God! (Philippians 2:9-11; Heb.12:2)! May we then be always ready to do the Father’s will no matter the cost because surely eternal rewards and glory await us! Rom.8: 16; 2Cor.4:16-18.
- Know that we are mobile holy temple/sanctuary/house of God! The Holy Spirit whose character is holiness, purity, cleanliness dwells/lives in us as we were bought by Christ’s precious blood from slavery and death of sin back to God and His kingdom of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit, glory to God! Rom.14:17. So we don’t belong to ourselves to do what we want, but to glorify God always with our bodies! We live in honour and glory of God, that our Father be pleased always with us proudly saying: “This is my beloved son/daughter in whom I am well pleased”! All because you are careful to God’s will just like our Lord Jesus, amen!
May this be your and my way of life as we thank and praise God the Father and the Lord Jesus for Christ’s death and glorious resurrection for us, amen.
Happy, blessed, victorious and glorious weekend of remembrance of Jesus’ death and glorious resurrection, and daily Christlike life.
