“And Jesus said unto them, I am the BREAD OF LIFE: he that cometh to me shall NEVER HUNGER; and he that believeth on me shall NEVER THIRST.” John 6:35
“I am the LIVING BREAD which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall LIVE FOREVER: and the BREAD that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world. ” John 6 :51.
Very inspiring and powerful discourse the Lord Jesus had with the Jews explaining who He is the bread of life as well as water of life! As bread, He satisfies the need for food and as water the thirst of drinking something. Of course, this food is not physical but spiritual food of the word of God which Jesus Himself represents – John 1:1,14. Jesus’ person, His presence and His word (every word of God) is this food that satisfies and fills any emptiness, lack or need! He Himself quoted the Spirit – inspired word of the Old Testament saying… “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by EVERY WORD that proceeds from the mouth of God” Mat. 4:4 (comp. Deuteronomy 8:3).
There is an emptiness, dissatisfaction and lack human beings feel in the heart. Some, in trying fulfil these go into alcohol, drugs, smoking, sex outside marriage, pursuit of money by all means, pursuit of fame and recognition, etc. Yet none of these can fill in the void or emptiness in the heart! Only Jesus and His word can fufil and give you satisfaction! He says: “Come unto Me, all who labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you l rest.” Mat. 11:28. There is an inner peace, calmness and rest the awareness of Jesus’s presence brings in the midst of any storm or challenge in life! Surely, He is with you and bring you out of the challenge!
He said to the Samaritan woman:” Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again, but whoever DRINKS OF THE WATER that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.” John 4:13,14. This water again is the Lord Jesus, the word of God and also the Holy Spirit filling our lives continually (John 7:37-39; Ephe.5:18; comp. Psalm 46:4-6). Also, His words are spirit and the life! John 6:63
Therefore, desire to have and maintain relationship with the Lord Jesus as Lord and Saviour, eat of the Word of God-reading and meditating on it daily and declaring it by faith into your life and situations! Find what the word says about every matter, believe it and act accordingly. May you be fulfilled and refreshed and satisfied with and in the Lord Jesus and His Word and Spirit’s continual presence and leadership, in Jesus’ name.
Have a blessed, victorious, fruitful and fulfilled week and daily life in Christ Jesus.
