“Now it came to pass, as they went, that He (Jesus) entered into a certain village: and a certain woman named Martha received Him into her house. And she had a sister called Mary, which also SAT AT JESUS’ FEET, AND HEARD HIS WORD. But Martha was encumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me. And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things: BUT ONE THING IS NEEDFUL: and Mary hath chosen that GOOD PART, which shall not be taken away from her.” Luke 10:38-42.
A very inspiring story through which we can learn from the Lord Jesus the ONE THING NEEDFUL, more important to Him than even our services or doing things for Him, like He corrected Martha in the above story!
That ONE THING is what Mary chose and did-sitting at Jesus’ feet and listening to Him; it is being with the Lord alone in His word, resting and being calm in His presence, looking at His loving face (in the spirit- we are one with Him in our spirit -1Cor.6:17) meditating on who He is, loving Him, appreciating Him, being
excited about Him, enjoying His companionship by the Holy Spirit dwelling inside of us, listening to Him with keen interest and readiness to obey Him!
Then joy, peace, strength, His love, His power, every good thing flows in and through us; no stress, worry or anxiety as we know that He is in and with us wherever we go because we know He is sending us there, and would accomplish His purpose in and through us at all times, glory to God !Mat.28:20
This was how Jesus also called and taught His disciples – first that they should BE WITH HIM, and then that He might send them forth to preach-Mark 3:14.
Note: before doing anything for the Lord, value and spend ample time in WITH THE LORD!
May the Lord by the Holy Spirit quicken and help us choose this ONE THING NEEDFUL-value and spend quality time with Him in word and prayer in the Spirit, through which we are refreshed and empowered and filled with joy to then go out to serve and carry out every instructions/commands from His word, and He be glorified, in Jesus’ name, amen.
Have a blessed, victorious and fruitful week and daily life in Christ Jesus.
